The new year has started out busy, and all of us at Ella’s Closet are looking forward to what 2017 will bring!
This month we held the very popular Cooking Matters classes through Glades Initiative with instructors Sister Laura and Chef Paul. We condensed the classes to two days a week for three weeks and were able to include some of the patrons of the Lighthouse Café making a total of 17 participants. They learn such great skills in this class such as comparative shopping to get the best product for their money and how to make their meals healthy. At the end of each class, they are given a bag of fresh ingredients so they can prepare the meal again at home for their families. We will start up a new Cooking Matters class in February which will be given by Ms. Calsetta. I love to see how excited and involved the participants get in this class.
Classes scheduled for February include the weekly Bible Study and Healthy Relationships along with CPR with the PB County Fire Rescue. We are adding a new class to our schedule on Monday. It will be a sewing class. The ladies will begin with basic sewing and hope to eventually progress to more advanced items. We already have a request for little girls tutus that can be sold online. Thankfully we have had some sewing machines donated and are looking for donations of thread, patterns, material and sewing supplies. This class will be limited to 4 in a class so that each mom can get the one on one help. Be looking for pictures on our Facebook, Instagram and in next month’s newsletter.
