October 2016 Newsletter

November 1, 2016

Dear Friends,

The month of October has been a busy one. It’s the time of year for pumpkin spice, football, S’mores and bringing out the warmer clothes. As we packed up the summer clothes to make room for the fall/winter ones Hurricane Matthew was churning in the Atlantic headed for Haiti. When we realized how blessed we are with so many summer clothes, we decided that we would help out an orphanage in Haiti. We were able to make a connection locally with someone whose son runs an orphanage. They came and picked up our donation and were very happy. We have faith that God will provide, and we will have more summer clothes donated before the warmer months get here.

Classes are continuing as usual with a good number in attendance. For the next 8 weeks, we are offering parenting classes through Youth Services of Palm Beach County. This is a very informative and beneficial class for our parents. The Wednesday Bible study and Thursday Healthy Relationships classes are still ongoing.

We are looking for to collaborating with YM Unite again this year providing Thanksgiving baskets for our parents. This was a huge success last year and provided the families with everything needed to prepare a Thanksgiving meal. Also, we are planning to continue with our Ella’s Angels Christmas gifts and party. This was another successful event and the children really enjoyed the Christmas party as well as the visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus.

We don’t often mention Ella’s baby sister Raelynn Scott, but we wanted everyone to know that she is growing like a weed and doing great, and not to mention that she is absolutely adorable! I couldn’t help but include a picture of her in this month’s newsletter.

Don’t forget to follow us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter as well as our website at www.ellascloset.org.

All of us at Ella’s Closet want to wish your family a very Happy Thanksgiving!

There is no foot too small that it cannot leave an imprint on this world.

God Bless,

SEPTEMBER 2016 NEWSLETTER

October 1, 2016

Dear Friends,

September was a very busy month for us at Ella’s Closet. We have been receiving a lot of donations throughout the summer, and that is a good thing! We even had an anonymous donor take up a collection of new baby/toddler items. For the first time, our moms were able to purchase toddler beds! Thank you to everyone who donated. We even had someone take a donated rocking chair and turn it into a beautiful piece for our playroom. Also, for those that haven’t been down to see the bigger and better Ella’s Closet we would love for you to come for a peek. We know you will love it!

Classes continued through the month which included a 6-week parenting class. Many parents participated and not only learned a lot but enjoyed it as well. The class was so popular we are hoping to have another one very soon. Bible study and Chit Chat groups are also enjoyed. Both of those will be ongoing.

On September 10 the Women of Wellington & CLOTHED4APURPOSE hosted the first annual FASHION4APURPOSE fashion show at Suri West in Wellington. The fashion show was a huge success with many in attendance. My husband said he felt like he was in Miami Beach! It was very well planned and the best part was that 10% of all sales that night was divided up between Ella’s Closet, The Lighthouse Café and Place of Hope. Monday, September 26, we were presented with a check from the monies received that evening. A big thank you to the WOW, CLOTHED4APURPOSE, and FASHION4APURPOSE for allowing us to be a part of this special event. We look forward to participating again next year.

Along with the good, sometimes there are not so happy times. One of our EC families had a tragic fire and was displaced from their home. Through the Red Cross, Salvation Army and many of you that donated we were able to keep them in a local motel for a week, completely clean out the burned apartment, get new clothes and school uniforms and help arrange the delivery of used furniture. When we are able, we like to reach beyond the Closet and help our families when there is a need.

We were blessed to have Roxanne Stein from WPTV Channel 5 come out and talk to our moms about the jewelry they’ve been making. While Roxanne was there, she along with our moms made some beautiful leather necklaces that can be worn as a choker or longer as a necklace. We currently don’t have any to sell as every necklace made that day sold immediately. They will be making some more very soon so keep us in mind if you need a gift and especially during the holidays. 100% of the sales from the jewelry will go to purchase more supplies for the Closet. Be sure to check them out at www.clothed4apurpose.com. Also, the segment that was shot that day will air in November. We will be sure to post it on our Facebook page.

Also, when you make a purchase at www.clothed4apurpose.com or www.smile.amazon.com, a portion of your purchase will be donated to Ella’s Closet when you choose us as your charity.

There is no foot too small that it cannot leave an imprint on this world!

AUGUST 2016 NEWSLETTER

August 31, 2016

Dear Friends,

Ella’s Closet had a crazy and exciting summer! We spent the $1K that we won from Youth For America to enlarge and remodeled the closet, as well as give Tandra a brand new private office! Her old office was transformed into a playroom where the children can safely play while their moms are shopping. Volunteers performed all the work of… installing sheetrock, plastering, painting, and organizing the closet! One excited mom commented, “The closet looks like a real store!” Check out the bigger and better Ella’s Closet on our Facebook page!

Workshops will continue through the month of September. Just remember we will be closed on Monday, September 5 in observance of Labor Day.

On Saturday, September 10, Ella’s Closet, The Lighthouse Café, and the other “Causes We Love” will be participating in the first annual FASHION4APURPOSE runway fashion show at Suri West in Wellington. The purpose of the evening is to raise awareness and money for each of CLOTHED4APURPOSE’s “The Causes We Love”, (A21, Place of Hope, St. Jude, Ella’s Closet, The Lighthouse Café, and the Fanconi Anemia Research Fund) while also bringing together the community, & supporting local businesses – all through a fun night of enjoying fashion! Each of “The Causes We Love” will have a booth at the entrance of the event where they may hand out promotional materials to bring awareness and educate the community about their charity.

One of the awesome parts of the FASHION4APURPOSE runway fashion show is that all of the looks revealed that evening will be available for purchase immediately following the show. Each vendor participating in the show will be contributing 10% of their sales from the evening to a “Philanthropic Pool” which will be divided equally amongst the causes. In addition, each ticket sale to the event will also generate a contribution to the “Philanthropic Pool”! Channel 29 news anchor, Roxanne Stein, will be emceeing the event. She is very happy to help raise awareness for the causes and support the mission of FASHION4APURPOSE. For more information on this exciting event, please check out the website at www.FASHION4APURPOSE.com.

We have now also entered the world of Twitter. A big thank you to our millennial intern Alyssa Pace for keeping our social media pages updated and ongoing. I’m sure some of you wondered how I was doing that. Not me for sure! So appreciative of Alyssa and her computer skills and talents to help with this project. She’s done a great job!

Don’t forget to check us out on Facebook, Instagram ( _ellascloset), Twitter, and our website www.EllasCloset.org for pictures of all of our activities.

Dear Friends,

Ella’s Closet has a fresh new look! We are bigger and better! There is a playroom for the kids and a lot more room for items. As one mom said, “This looks just like a store!”; and I must say I agree. Tandra now even has her own private office. We would love for you to come by and see our improvements. You can also see pictures on our Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram pages.

In July, we held our first workshop in Pahokee. The PBC Fire Dept. taught the moms Infant/Child CPR. The moms were very excited about being part of our program and can’t wait to shop at Ella’s Closet. Hopefully, we will be able to expand to other area cities!

Also, when you make a purchase at www.CLOTHED4APURPOSE.com or www.smile.amazon.com, a portion of your purchase will be donated to Ella’s Closet when you choose us as your charity.

NEWS FROM JUNE 2016

July 1, 2016

Dear Friends,
Just like last month, there are many exciting things going on at Ella’s Closet. The youth groups participating in Collaborate worked on the remodel June 20-23. A big thank you to Youth for America, FBC Blend Youth Group, Caroline Key, and Andrea Nichols for nominating and choosing Ella’s Closet as the 3rd $1K Thought winner. You can check out the video of the entire week of Collaborate 2016 at www.youthforamerica.org. Check our website for pictures of the completed remodel.

Representatives from Ella’s Closet, along with the Levins & Key families, accepted a check for $1,000 during the Sunday night service kick-off service for Collaboration week from Youth for America. Even Raelynn was there looking as cute as ever and supporting her big sister’s ministry.

One of the workshops we had during June was a GED placement test and preparedness class for those interested in obtaining their GED. Most of the participants aren’t very fluent in the English language. If you have ever tutored someone or are interested in teaching someone to read we would love for you to contact us. These women know some spoken English, but need to learning how to read it.

Bible Study classes are very popular, and Ms. Jan will continue these through the summer months. Ms. Karen is continuing with the Healthy Relationship classes. We are happy to announce that we have expanded our workshops to the Pahokee area. Look out South Bay! We have our sites on you! We are also having Infant/Child CPR class in Belle Glade and Pahokee. There is also a 10-week parenting class being offered.

Jen from the Art Cellar Wellington was back again this month teaching the women how to make tassel necklaces. 100% of the sales from these necklaces go to support Ella’s Closet. They can be found online at www.clothed4apurpose.com under the jewelry section. We are so thankful for Jen volunteering her time and talent to Ella’s Closet.

Also, when you make a purchase at www.clothed4apurpose.com or www.smile.amazon.com, a portion of your purchase will be donated to Ella’s Closet when you choose us as your charity.

Be sure to check back for pictures from all of our summer activities and don’t forget to check us out on Facebook, Instagram, and our website www.ellascloset.org.
